Young grafted plants are tied to plant stakes and weekly irrigation
Left: Irrigation systems are checked and extended to new blocks.

the plants stop producing canes and start concentrating on ripening
the fruit. The change from cane production to fruit ripening is
called "verasion." During verasion red varietials
begin to change from green to purple.
